Victor Boniface will have to thank VAR for escaping a sending off at Borussia Dortmund as his club Bayer Leverkusen again refused to be beaten this season.

The referee’s straight red card decision was overturned after consulting the VAR.

The Super Eagles striker was given a straight red card for his role in a scuffle with Leverkusen a goal down at Dortmund.

The referee then consulted VAR and thankfully the red card was rescinded altogether.

The dismissal would have cost him at least two of the four matches to be played till the end of the season.

Leverkusen again fought back to draw level on the stroke of full time to now go 45 games in all competitions unbeaten.

They will now hope to defend their unbeaten record Saturday at home against third-placed Stuttgart.
