2024 AFRICAN GAMES: Flying Eagles crash out

The Flying Eagles have crashed out of the football event of the 2024 African Games in Ghana after they fell 3-2 to 10-man Senegal in a final Group B match.

Halftime scores were 2-1 in favour of Senegal.

The Nigerian U20s needed a draw to make it to the last-four of the tournament and they looked on course to doing so when they drew level at 2-2 in the 50th minute.

However, Senegal scored the match winner in the 65th minute to join Uganda in the semifinals.

Overall, the Flying Eagles failed to impress with coach Ladan Bosso blaming this on the short preparation for the competition.

The quality of the players selected and poor co-ordination of the team as a whole have been highlighted.

An inquest of this failure in Ghana will therefore begin in earnest.
