The long-drawn hunt for a new Super Eagles coach has taken different twist following the intervention of the country’s sports minister, John Enoh.
This followed his meeting with an NFF delegation led by president Ibrahim Gusau today, SCORENigeria has now gathered.
The sports minister told the NFF officials his preferred position on the appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles, which runs against the recommendations of the NFF technical committee.
It is now left for Gusau to either go along with the minister or work with what his own committee has put on his table.
Critics have long knocked the capacity and even the independence of the NFF president.
“He does not have the courage to take decisions and stand by them,” a disappointed official told SCORENigeria
“Should the appointment of a coach for the national team have taken such a long time if these people really know what they are doing?”
