SCORENigeria Top 5: Osimhen leads Super Eagles stars to shine so brightly in Europe
Victor Osimhen fired a treble in the Italian Serie A, while fellow Super Eagles stars Bright Osayi-Samuel, Joe Aribo and Chidera Ejuke also shone at their respective European clubs this past week.
5.Victor Olatunji
The striker was crucial in a dramatic quarterfinal Czech Cup win for Sparta Praha over city rivals Slavia. Sparta had to fight back from two goals down to win 3-2 with Olatunji grabbing a brace in the second half. This is the first season for 24-year-old Olatunji at Sparta after his transfer from another Czech club Slovan Liberec. On Sunday, both clubs played out a scoreless draw in the league for Sparta to maintain top position with 60 points from 23 matches, four points clear of Slavia.
4.Bright Osayi-Samuel
The Super Eagles defender scored in a 2-0 victory at Hatayspor for Fenerbache to move to the top of the Turkish Super Lig table provisionally. However, Istanbul rivals Galatasaray won their outstanding game to regain top spot as the battle for the championship gathers steam. Galatasaray are two points ahead of Fenerbache with about 10 rounds of matches left for the season.
3.Chidera Ejuke
The dribbling Super Eagles winger has continued to shine in Belgium after he scored a goal and an assist for Antwerp to trounce St.Truiden 3-0. He has now scored three goals in 19 league appearances. The defending league kings are now very much in the mix for the championship playoffs in fourth place with 48 points from 28 matches. There are now two rounds of matches to the end of the regular season in Belgium.
2.Joe Aribo
The midfielder was the last-gasp match winner for Southampton to win 4-3 at Birmingham City to stay on track for a prompt return to the Premier League. It was only his third goal of the season. ‘The Saints’ are fourth on the table with 70 points from 35 matches. They are now very much within the promotion playoffs bracket and only five points from an automatic promotion spot.

Despite missing a penalty at home against Juventus Sunday, the Super Eagles star striker was the most outstanding Nigerian player of the past week after his hat-trick in a rescheduled Serie A clash at Sassuolo. Last season, he also scored his first hat-trick in Serie A against the same club. He has now netted 11 goals in the current campaign and has brought a new energy and belief to Napoli, who are just three points outside the bracket for European qualifying places.
