EXCLUSIVE: Salisu Yusuf, Amokachi apply for Super Eagles top post

SCORENigeria can exclusively report that Salisu Yusuf and Daniel Amokachi are among those who have applied for the vacant position of the Super Eagles coach.

Last week, the NFF announced that interested and qualified coaches should apply for head coach of the country’s team.

This followed the end of the contract of the Portuguese Jose Peseiro, who led the team to the final of the recent AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

“I know Daniel (Amokachi) has applied for the position, so also Salisu (Yusuf),” a top source told only SCORENigeria

Salisu Yusuf was previously caretaker coach of the Super Eagles after his stints with the Flying Eagles as well as the CHAN Eagles.

However, his career was truncated briefly after he was implicated for receiving cash from an undercover journalist in Ghana.

The former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach is currently working with Rivers United, who have advanced to the quarterfinal of the CAF Confederation Cup.

‘The Bull’ Amokachi has also thrown his hat in the ring after only recently serving as a Presidential aide on sports.

The former World Cup star assisted Stephen Keshi when the Super Eagles last won the AFCON in 2013.

He has also worked with the national U23s even though with limited success.

His Super Eagles teammate, Emmanuel Amuneke, has also confirmed he has submitted his own application for the top post.
