Ignore the speculations that a coach has already been appointed for the Super Eagles as SCORENigeria can report today that the NFF technical committee recommended to the executive board that a foreign coach is best placed to lead the Super Eagles to glory.
The Super Eagles are now expected to build on the momentum they created after they reached the final of the recent AFCON to qualify for both the 2026 World Cup and the 2025 AFCON.
This remmendation though was made on the proviso that the NFF can afford to pay such a coach.
That explained why the committee then forwarded three foreign coaches to be considered for the top post by the executive board.
SCORENigeria checks further revealed that at least one of the top foreign coaches who applied for the post will take around $80,000 a month as salary.
It further recommended that the new foreign coach be assisted by a local coach, who will learn more on the job.
The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has already made it clear it will not pay the salaries of a new Super Eagles coach.
The technical committee also gave the executives an option to hire an indigenous coach in the event it cannot afford a foreign coach.
“Consultations are still going on, nothing has been decided,” insisted another top source.
