Will Super Eagles do Nemesis Libya big favour?

Super Eagles may have booked their flight to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, but the second ticket from Group D is very much up for grabs between Benin, Rwanda and Libya.

Nigeria have won the group with 11 points after five matches.

Benin fell short of also qualifying for the 2025 AFCON after they were forced to a 1-1 draw by the Super Eagles Thursday night at their adopted home of Abidjan.

Had they won the game, they would have amassed nine points and go into a tricky away tie in Libya Monday with their qualification ticket firmly in the bag.

Libya’s 1-0 win in Rwanda has thrown the group wide open so much so that the bottom team could now hope to qualify against all odds.

The North Africans face a Herculean task against a decent Benin.

They will need to thrash the Cheetahs by at least 4-0 and now hope that Nigeria, who won a walkover over them, do not lose at home to Rwanda also Monday.

The job of former Super Eagles Gernot Rohr is now hanging on the match in Libya.
