Remo Stars stay on course for first-ever NPFL crown

Remo Stars today won a Southwest Derby at Shooting Stars to stay on track for a first-ever NPFL championship.

Midfielder Alex Oyowah scored the match winner for Remo Stars after half an hour of action at Shooting Stars.

Remo Stars now have 65 points from 34 matches, seven points clear of second-placed Rivers United, who also won today courtesy of a 1-0 home victory over Sunshine Stars.

Ikorodu City climbed to third place in the standings after they held hosts El Kanemi Warriors to a 1-1 draw.

They have 53 points with four rounds of matches to the end of the season.

Bendel Insurance climbed to fifth on the table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Nasarawa United.

Heartland failed to move out of the relegation zone after they could only manage a scoreless draw at home with Kwara United.

In other results, Plateau United compounded Akwa United relegation woes after they won 1-0 in Jos and Niger Tornadoes were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United.
