Former Super Falcons star Desire Oparanozie has backed the team to shine at the Paris 2024 Olympics even though they are drawn in a tough-looking first round group.
The Super Falcons are drawn against world champions Spain, Japan and Brazil in Group C.
They open their campaign on July 25 against Brazil.
“It’s a tough group, Spain are world champions, Japan were previous world champions and Brazil are a household name in the game,” Oparanozie said.
“But I believe in the team, we will do well at the Olympics, the girls will show what they are made up, they will make themselves proud.”
Oparanozie said she is delighted that the Super Falcons have finally qualified for the Olympics after a long wait.
“I am excited for the Super Falcons, it’s a long time since we played at the Olympics,” she said.
“The Olympics is the only major tournament I did not play in before I retired.”
