Tolu Arokodare, who is on the Super Eagles provisional squad for must-win World Cup qualifiers this month, has provided an insight to his personality.
He said he is too open, wants to please everyone and ought to talk less.
The Genk striker also said that even though he is the leading scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with a round of games to the end of the season, he is not where he wants to be.
Arokodare told Het Belang van Limburg: “Although I am certainly not where I want and need to be, because if I am honest with myself, my professionalism is one of my biggest areas of improvement.”
And he admitted there are still things he wants to work on – sometimes he finds himself too open and tries to please everyone, something we know doesn’t work in these times.
“I always think that everyone is my friend, but in the end that is not true. I am always talking and trying to explain things, but I really need to learn to just keep my mouth shut sometimes…” he opened up.
Tolu said that everything can then blow up perfectly in your face.
“I am convinced that my worse qualities would not be so noticeable if I chatted less often,” he concluded.
Tolu said that he is often too expressive and wants to explain everything, but that is not necessary.
“I work very hard on it, but it is incredibly difficult. I am now 24 years old and have been very open all that time, it is extremely difficult to change something that you have been doing your whole life.”
