Super Eagles lack discipline fires Ikpeba

The present Super Eagles team are not disciplined, according to former African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba.

“The biggest problem of the Super Eagles is indiscipline,” Ikpeba fired a broadside on the national team during a SuperSports programme Monday Night Football.

“There should be team unity and respect for the manager.

“When those things are not there, it is a problem.”

In June, the Super Eagles found themselves in a tight corner after they failed to beat South Africa in Uyo and were upset by Benin in 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

They now languish second from bottom with three points after four rounds of matches with hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup now in tatters.

“The team were not good enough ad so the abysmal results in June,” Ikpeba said.

“They made Nigerians proud when they reached the final of the AFCON and now we want to see a reaction from them.

“It will not be easy against Benin again, but a win will ease the pressure.

“It does not have to be 4-0, 1-0 will do. The most important thing is to get a result.”

He said he expects coaches Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede from the NPFL to learn as assistants to Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen.
