Rivers United will now have to beat Dreams FC of Ghana at home to stand any chance of reaching the knockout rounds of the CAF Confederation Cup after a hard-fought 3-2 win at APC Lobito of Angola today.
Hosts Dreams pipped Club Africain of Tunisia 1-0 to shoot to the top of the table with 12 points from five matches.
Club Africain are now second in the standings with nine points from five matches, same points with third-placed Rivers United but they enjoy a better goals difference.
Next Sunday, Club Africain are home to bottom club Lobito, while Rivers United they win big against their Ghanaian guests.
Today, Rivers United goals in Angola were by Udom Edem Ekerette (40th minute), Alex Oyowah 44-pen) and Farouk Mohammed (48th minute).
