Remo Stars crash out of CAF Champions League

NPFL runners-up Remo Stars have again been knocked at the first hurdle by the same club – ASFAR of Morocco.

The Ikenne club fell 2-0 in Morocco Sunday night to go out 3-2 on aggregate after they won the first leg in Nigeria 2-1.

The Nigerian club held their hosts to a goalless draw in the first half before they conceded two goals after the break.

The goals included one from a contentious penalty awarded the home team after defender Ifeanyi Anaemena tugged at the shirt of a Moroccan attacker. There will now be only two Nigerian clubs left on continent this year – Enugu Rangers in the Champions League and Enyimba in the Confederation Cup – after El Kanemi Warriors were also eliminated by Dadje of Benin.
