PSG renew interest in Ademola Lookman as Atalanta offer improved contract

Perennial French Ligue 1 champions PSG have renewed interest to sign Ademola Lookman just as his Italian club Atalanta are working on an improved contract for him.

This development comes after Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini recently expressed his hope that the transfer market wouldn’t come calling for Lookman in January.

Calciomercato reported how the Nigerian star had previously trained separately at Zingonia while awaiting a potential move to PSG.

However, the expected offer of at least 60 million euros never materialized, leading Lookman to remain with Atalanta. Since then, he has shown his commitment to the club, contributing significantly with 8 goals and 5 assists across all competitions.

PSG, who have been monitoring Lookman for some time, are now reportedly prepared to meet Atalanta’s valuation, potentially offering up to 65 million euros.

This substantial bid could prove tempting for Atalanta, especially considering their depth in attacking options, including De Ketelaere, Zaniolo, Retegui, and the soon-to-return Scamacca.

However, Lookman’s unique ability to dribble past defenders and single-handedly decide matches makes him a valuable asset for Atalanta.

The club’s ambitions have grown following their impressive goal-scoring record in Serie A and their strong performance in the Champions League.

Atalanta are not inclined to offer any discounts on Lookman’s transfer fee. Instead, they are preparing to offer him a contract extension with an increased salary.

This move sends a clear message to potential suitors: whether in January or June, any club looking to sign Lookman will need to meet Atalanta’s full valuation without compromise.
