PRESIDENT FEDERATION CUP: Kano Pillars battle Abia Warriors, Kebbi United face El Kanemi for final

This year’s President Federation Cup final will be contested between clubs in both the NPFL and NNL as Kano Pillars take on fellow top-tier Abia Warriors in the semifinal and NNL clubs Kebbi United and El Kanemi Warriors do battle in the other semifinal.

In the quarterfinal, Kano Pillars eliminated another NPFL side Sunshine Stars 5-4 on penalties after fulltime scores stood at 1-1.

Rabiu Ali put Pillars ahead, before Sunshine drew level before the break.

El Kanemi Warriors outscored Inter Lagos 2-1, while Kebbi pipped EFCC 4-3 on penalties after there were no goals in their own quarterfinal in Kano.

Abia Warriors made it to their first-ever cup semifinal courtesy of a 5-4 on penalties win over Sokoto United after both teams had played out a 1-1 draw.

The semifinals are scheduled for June 19.
