NPFL ROUNDUP: Plateau United continue surge in style
The 25th Matchday of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) took centre stage with Plateau United climbing to second place in the standings after a 4-0 thrashing of bottom team Gombe United, while Shooting Stars recorded the only win on the road.

Former Flying Eagles winger Nenrot Silas grabbed a hat-trick for Plateau United to shoot down Gombe 4-0.
The Jose club now have 44 points from 25 matches, two points behind leaders Lobi Stars.
Shooting Stars travelled to the Pantami Stadium and brought all three points back to Ibadan for the first time in 15 games courtesy of Monday Gideon’s first-half strike.
The Ibadan club are now seventh on the table with 37 points after 25 matches.
Nigeria’s only hope of continental glory this year, Rivers United, suffered defeat in the hands of leaders Lobi as Also Danbani and Samuel Tiza netted for the hosts to lead 2-0 lead, before Williams Ukeme halved the deficit.
Kumaga Surr restored the two- goal cushion, before Gibson Mark ensured the clash ended 3-2 in favour of the home team.
Enyimba surrendered to Remo Stars with a lone goal scored by Nigeria U20 forward Adams Olamilekan to claim all three points for the home side.
It was another home win by the odd goal as Kwara United stopped Bayelsa United with Mohammed Alao the match winner.
Sunshine Stars stunned travellers Katsina United courtesy of another lone strike, this time coming off the boots of Yusuf Ibrahim, a minute to the break.
Katsina coach Bala Abubakar quit his post thereafter.

Kano Pillars split the points with Enugu Rangers after Chinerem Ugwueze’s 52nd minute strike was canceled out by Sani Mubarak’s opener.
Heartland United eased relegation worries after they won convincingly against regional rivals Abia Warriors with goals by Onyekachi Okafor and Ikechukwu Ngbemena’s quick fire goals.
Fresh from a massive home win over Remo Stars in the SouthWest Derby, Sporting Lagos fell to Niger Tornadoes 1-0, while Akwa United stunned Bendel insurance 3-0.
Ubong Friday grabbed a brace with Sani Suleiman also on the scoreboard for a big win for Akwa United.
