NPFL Roundup: Abia Warriors beat Enugu Rangers to topple champions from Top-4

Abia Warriors today climbed to the NPFL Top-4 after a 1-0 home win over Enugu Rangers.

Antoine Ijoma’s 43rd minute strike was the match winner for home team Abia Warriors in this β€˜Oriental Derby’ to move them fourth with 39 points from 25 matches.

Lobi Stars in the absence of coach Daniel Amokachi were denied victory at Shooting Stars, who battled to snatch a 2-2 draw in Ibadan.

Ikorodu City fought from a goal to beat Plateau United 2-1 with Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle watching from the stands at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Niger Tornadoes also beat Heartland after going behind at home.

There were four draws on the day.

Sunshine Stars drew 1-1 at home with Kano Pillars, Akwa United forced visiting Rivers United to another 1-1 draw, Bayelsa United held Nasarawa United a 2-2 draw and Bendel Insurance did well to a record a scoreless draw at El Kanemi Warriors.

There will be two matches tomorrow – leaders Remo Stars welcome Kwara United and Katsina United host Enyimba.
