NPFL Player of Week: Antoine Ijoma stars in Abia Warriors derby win

The NPFL Player of Week 25 is Antoine Ijoma Desouza of Abia Warriors.

The Abia Warriors striker notched his seventh goal of the season for his club to record the biggest result of Week 25 when they edged defending champions Enugu Rangers in an ‘Oriental Derby’.

Ijoma’s 42nd minute strike also meant they toppled Rangers to move to fourth place in the standings.

The powerfully-built Togolese striker, who joined the Umuahia outfit a year ago, has been in the form of his life.

He has now banged his goals in the last dozen games.

His other goals have been against Remo Stars, Sunshine Stars, Katsina United, Niger Tornadoes, Akwa United and Ikorodu City.

Thanks to his goals, Abia Warriors under coach Imama Amapakabo have overcome a difficult start to the campaign and they are now contending for a place on the continent as second-placed Shooting Stars are only two points ahead of them.
