New NPFL leaders Enugu Rangers want to keep winning

Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has said he wants his team to keep on winning after they stopped Heartland 2-1 in an ‘Oriental Derby’ to go top of the NPFL.

‘The Flying Antelopes’ achieved the double over regional rivals Heartland as they also won the reverse tie 2-0.

Midfielder Kalu Nweke assisted for the opening goal scored by defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, before he fired from 25 metres a rocket in the 54th minute for Rangers to win 2-1 in Aba.

Rangers are now unbeaten in nine league games.

 “It was a great game between two great sides and I am very glad that we ended the game on the winning side,” Ilechukwu said.

“We worked very hard to earn this victory and I thank God for it and hopefully, we shall keep the momentum to push higher in the league.”

Rangers now sit on top of the standings with 48 points from 27 matches and will next host Sunshine Stars in a Matchday 28 fixture.
