Libya step up propaganda after claims Nigerian Govt apologised

Libya have stepped up their propaganda in the Super Eagles saga after they claimed the Nigerian Government has apologised for the team’s withdrawal from a 2025 AFCON qualifier.

Libyan Observer reported that Nigerian foreign minister Yusuf Tuggar extended the country’s apology to his Libyan counterpart, Abdehadi Al-Huwaij, on phone.

The newspaper said this followed “growing tensions after a controversial decision by the Nigeria Football Federation to refuse participation in a scheduled Africa Cup of Nations qualifier return match.”

It further reported that the Libyan foreign ministry claimed that the Nigerian foreign minister “expressed deep regret, clarifying that the incident was neither intentional nor a deliberate act by the Nigerian government”.

The Libyan Express reported that the Libyan team experienced a similar problem like the Super Eagles when they traveled to Nigeria.

The Libya Football Federation (LFF) have threatened to sue their Nigerian counterparts after the Super Eagles boycotted Tuesday’s AFCON qualifier in Benina and flew back home.
