Kano Pillars coach suspended after home draw as front runners Rivers United, 3SC slip

Kano Pillars coach Usman Abdallah has been suspended after his team were held to a scoreless draw at home today by Bayelsa United, while Rivers United and Shooting Stars dropped points on the road to ease pressure on table toppers Remo Stars.

Third-placed Rivers United fell 2-0 at Heartland, while second-placed Shooting Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by hosts Plateau United.

On the back of these results, Remo Stars are now eight points clear at the top of the table with 45 points from 22 matches.

Kano Pillars response to a 4-1 thrashing at Ikorodu United the previous matchday was a 0-0 draw at home to Bayelsa United today.

Coach Abdallah was the scapegoat and has now been suspended for three weeks for his inapproriate gesture towards the fans after the draw and the team’s poor run.

Ahmed Garba ‘Yaro Yaro’ will be in temporary charge of the team.

Nasarawa United climbed out of the basement of the standings courtesy of a 2-0 home win over Niger Tornadoes, while Akwa United are now rock bottom after they fell 2-0 at Abia Warriors.

Tomorrow, Lobi Stars welcome Enyimba, Bendel Insurance take on Katsina United, Enugu Rangers face Ikorodu City and Kwara United are home to El Kanemi Warriors.
