Ilenikhena breaks Mbappe record with Champions League winner vs Barcelona

George Ilenikhena was again the match winner against Barcelona in the Champions League as he also put aside the record set by Kylian Mbabpe at Monaco.

The Lagos-born striker became the youngest player (18 years and 34 days) to score for Monaco in the Champions League, overtaking Kylian Mbappe who was aged 18 years and 63 days when he got on the scoresheet against Manchester City on February 21, 2017.

Ilenikhena was named Man of the Match Thursday night.

He made it two goals in two against Barcelona, as he got the winner, as they got a shock win over the Catalan giants, at the Stade Louis II Stadium.

Last season, he was also the historical match winner for Antwerp against Barcelona in a Champions League group game.

Barcelona were down to ten men 10 minutes into the game, giving Monaco the numerical advantage, and also giving them control.

Home team Monaco took the lead through Maghnes Akliouche, before young talent Lamine Yamal restored parity with a stunner.

Ilenikhena was brought on for Breel Embolo as the French side sought a winner.

Twelve minutes into his introduction, Ilenikhena started out a counter attack, and finished it, firing beyond German goalkeeper Ter Stegen.
