Igho Ogbu has told SCORENigeria that it was his father’s wish on his death bed that he should play for the Super Eagles.
The big central defender had already made his father proud when he shone for the Flying Eagles all the way to the 2019 U20 World Cup in Poland.
“Before he died, he told me he wanted me to wear the green-white-green shirt again, this time with the Super Eagles,” Igho revealed.
“I was therefore thrilled when I was called up for the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
“I have taken a big step towards making my dad’s wish to come true.”
Ogbu has been massive for Czech top club Slavia Praha and he showed this tonight as his club were comfortable 3-0 winners versus Jablonec, who paraded his Flying Eagles teammate Success Makanjuola.
He opened scoring in front of a sold-out home crowd and was also involved in the third goal.
“This is great for my confidence going into the Super Eagles camp,” said the deserved Man of the Match.
He will be in Rwanda tomorrow.
