Nigeria’s Falconets will have to be at their very best when they face rampant Japan in a FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Round of 16 Thursday in Medellin.
Japan easily won Group E after they shot through their three group games – annihilated New Zealand 7-0, blasted past Ghana 4-1, before they saw off closest rivals Austria 2-0.
They thus finished with nine points, scored 13 goals and let in only one.
The Falconets were runners-up in Group D with six points from two matches.
They scored six goals and conceded three.
The winners between the Falconets and Japan will do battle with the winners between Spain and Canada in the quarterfinal.
