Electricity Tariff: Full List of Areas in Southwest States Enjoying 20-24hrs Power Supply

  • Not all areas in states across Nigeria are affected by unstable power supply rampant in recent times
  • This is because such areas in states like Ogun, Osun, Kwara, and Oyo are under the Service Band A category
  • This, by implication, means that the areas enjoying nothing less than 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily

Amid the poor and unstable electricity supply in Nigeria generally, and the recent increment of tariff by over 100%, there are areas in some states, especially in the southwest region, where the case is much better.

These areas are in states like Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Kwara which are under the Service Band A category where citizens enjoy not less than 16-20 hours of power supply daily.

NLC, Manufacturers, Others React to NERC’s Increase in Electricity Tariff

The decision by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to raise the electricity tariff for Band A consumers from the current N66 per kilowatt hour to N225, or a 240% increase, has been criticised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), manufacturers, and other concerned stakeholders.

In a recent statement from Mr Musiliu Oseni, the Executive Vice Chairman of NERC, the regulator guaranteed that customers in Band B to E would not be affected by the proposed rate increase.
