Bayer Leverkusen coach admits he forces Victor Boniface to focus on football

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface was on the end of some backlash at the weekend despite his brilliant performance in Bayer Leverkusen win at Hoffenheim for his rather strange goal celebration.

Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has now explained he has had to force the striker to focus on only his football as he is now a popular figure for his exploits on social media.

“All the teammates really like him, the guy creates a great atmosphere. Sometimes you have to force him to focus only on football, but that’s my job, that’s what I’m trying to do,” Xabi Alonso said according to efotbal.cz.

Boniface will be expected to build on his Hoffenheim performance when Leverkusen trade tackles with Feyenoord tonight in the UEFA Champions League.
