UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid are the clear favourites to win the UEFA Super Cup tonight in Warsaw, but Atalanta star Ademola Lookman has insisted the Spanish giants will have their work cut out for them.
Kick-off tonight at the National Stadium in Warsaw is 8pm.
Ademola Lookman fired a memorable hat-trick for Atalanta to win their first-ever major continental trophy, the Europa League, at the expense of Bayer Leverkusen.
That earned them the right to take on multiple winners of the Champions League Real Madrid tonight in Poland.
The winners of the Champions League have won 28 of the 48 editions of the Super Cup, which means Europa League winners or equivalent have triumphed on 20 occasions.
“Real Madrid are a top team, full of top players, but we’re ready,” the Super Eagles star assured.
“There’s never a best time to face Real Madrid. We have to focus on us as a team.
“They have their powers and dangers, we also have our qualities, so they will have to stop us.”
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was also upbeat.
“There’s room for a shock result,” he warned.
