Atalanta BC coach Gian Piero Gasperini labeled the decision of Ademola Lookman to quit the team as “unexpected” during his post-match conference after his side thrashed Leece 4-0 without the Super Eagles striker.
The Italian side proved they were good to go without the Nigerian star, who has reportedly agreed personal terms with PSG, as they scored four unreplied goals to open their Serie A campaign.
Last week, reports coming out of Bergamo said that PSG are interested in getting Ademola Lookman over to France as they look to shore up their attack following the departure of their Marque star Kylian Mbappe and an injury to Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos.
“I have been given the right guarantees,” the Atalanta coach said.
“Nobody expected this situation, which is why I am currently sailing by sight. I don’t know what will happen, but my job is to assemble as much as possible together with the club.
“It is clear that we will actually have the definition of the squad on August 31.
“We have an undoubtedly solid team structure, from defence to midfield, with players who have been at Atalanta for years, guaranteeing a quality of play that is always competitive.”
The coming days will now decide what happens in this developing transfer story involving Ademola Lookman.
