Ademola Lookman ought to quit Atalanta in the summer after his coach blamed him for the team’s exit from the UEFA Champions League, according to former Super Eagles star Ifeanyi Udeze.
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini blasted the Super Eagles star for stepping forward to take the penalty kick that could defined the Champions League playoff against Club Brugge.
Ademola Lookman failed to convert the spot kick on the hour for Club Brugge to hold on for a 3-1 win at Atalanta to go through to the Round of 16 5-2 on aggregate.
“He just should pack his bags and quit Atalanta in the summer,” said an angry Udeze in reaction to the comments of the Atalanta coach.
“He is no longer wanted at the club.”
Fellow Nigerians have equally been angered by the comments of the Atalanta coach.
Some were critical of the coach for not protecting the player and making him the scapegoat, while some argued he ought not to have openly dismissed him for not converting the spot kick.
