Arokodare still buzzing over first Super Eagles call-up

Tolu Arokodare can still not contain the excitement caused by his first-ever Super Eagles invitation.

The Genk striker, 24, has been rewarded by the national team selectors after his 17 goals in the regular season, which crowned him the league’s top scorer.

“I still don’t know how to feel. It’s a mix of only great feelings for me and my family. I can’t wait to put on that shirt,” he told HLN

Genk are favourites to be crowned champions after the playoffs thanks in part of the goals of the big Nigerian striker.

Arokodare scored in a 2-0 home win over Union St.Gilloise and he said afterwards that the atmosphere around the team is great.

“It is always good to help the team with a goal. That is my job, but the three points are the most important,” he said.

“The atmosphere afterwards in the dressing room was great. You should take a look at my socials.”

He added: “It may have looked like we weren’t trying hard enough lately, but we’ve now shown what we’re best at.

“We had a lot of confidence and were motivated after the first leg result (4-0 defeat, ed.).”
