The NPFL Player of Week 12 is Rivio Ayemwenre of Ikorodu City.
He snatched a late winning goal for his club to come tops in a first-ever Southwest Derby 2-1 against Shooting Stars.
‘The Oga Boys’ welcomed five-time champions and ‘Elder Brothers’ Shooting Stars to the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, in what looked to be the beginning of a fierce rivalry.
Shooting Stars opened the scoring early in the first half through former Ikorodu City striker Anthony Okachi, before ‘The Oga Boys’ drew level in the second period.
All looked set for a draw, before Ayemwenre proved his class once again, as he beat 3SC goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal in the 89th minute to send the stadium into a frenzy.
It was the first-ever NPFL Southwest Derby for Ikorodu City, who were only founded in 2022.
Rivio has now scored four goals in the NPFL this season.
