SCORENigeria has learnt on good authority that the coach of the victorious Flying Eagles, Aliyu Zubairu, does not have a contract with the NFF and as such he has held down his post at NPFL club El Kanemi Warriors.
The coach is therefore not on a monthly salary like his predecessor, Ladan Bosso, who pocketed 2 Million Naira monthly when he was in charge of the country’s U20s.
Zubairu and his assistants are only entitled to qualifying bonuses and allowances while with the national team.
On account of this arrangement, the coach only received camp allowances like other officials and players.
SCORENigeria has already reported the Flying Eagles were left completely devastated when they were paid camp allowances on return from the WAFU B U20 Championship in Togo last week.
The team’s allowances were slashed by a hefty 50%.
This is part of the austerity measures embarked upon by a committee headed by senior NFF executives.
Sources said the austerity measures have affected players and officials of the various national teams.
However, it was further learnt that the extacode of senior NFF officials who often accompany these teams are not affected by these cost-cutting efforts.
