Late arrival cancels Super Eagles training in Rwanda

Officials said the Super Eagles could not train as planned Sunday in Kigali because they got into Rwanda late.

Super Eagles spokesman Promise Efoghe said coach Augustine Eguavoen ordered the team to take their dinner and proceed to bed after they got to their hotel in Kigali late.

However, the team will train by 3pm local time, which is 2pm in Nigeria, later today to feel the pitch of the match venue.

The team spokesman said it is currently cold in Kigali, but the Super Eagles are in high spirit after the 3-0 home win over Benin and the warm reception they got in Kigali.

Rwanda forced hosts Libya to a 1-1 draw in their own opening qualifier last week.

They top the Super Eagles 2026 World Cup qualifying group with seven points from four matches.

Tomorrow’s 2025 AFCON Group D qualifier against home team Rwanda will kick off by 3pm local time.
