Victor Osimhen’s shock switch to Galatasaray has got the whole of Turkey and even beyond buzzing.
All the major newspapers in Turkey led with the loan transfer of the Napoli striker overnight.
“Osimhen is the most expensive player in the Super Lig,” it was reported in reference to his Transfermarkt valuation of 100 Million Euros.
The previous most expensive player was Zaniolo, whose valuation was 30 Million Euros.
“Wow, crazy,” Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan could not hide his amazement on social media.
Another commentator said there are now two superstars in Turkey – Osimhen and Jose Mourinho, the coach of rivals Fenerbache.
Galatasaray have also wasted no time in cashing in on this sensational transfer.
They have started selling his jersey after he picked the number 45 as against speculations of 99.
‘Gala’ sports director Cenk Ergun described the transfer as “extraordinary”.
“I hope it can be an important contribution to the great season that awaits Galatasaray,” he said.
Besides battling bitter rivals Fenerbache for the Super Lig championship, the Istanbul giants will feature in the UEFA Europa League this season.
