SCORENigeria has now scooped on how and why top NFF officials led by president Ibrahim Gusau gave up on first-choice for the Super Eagles job, Herve Renard.
A top official told only SCORENigeria that the French coach, who won the AFCON with both Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia, was never straight forward with the NFF leadership even when they flew to France to meet with him.
He revealed that the coach kept falling back on his word.
“Today he will say this, tomorrow it will be something different and the next day, another thing altogether,” the official disclosed.
“He probably knew Nigeria really wanted him badly, but he chose to behave like a typical African man and so the officials had no choice than to call off his bluff and move on.”
Renard was top of the four shortlisted foreign coaches for the vacant Super Eagles post.
His salary demand, which eventually came down to about $1.5 Million a year, was considered high, but the NFF were open to compromise on something that would be fair to both parties.
