It is a gloomy evening for Kenyans and the family of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Chief General Francis Ogolla.

The decorated general of the armed forces passed away on Thursday, April 18, following a chopper crash.

His daughter, Lorna Omondi Ogolla, was as broken as many Kenyans as she took to social media to mourn the loss of her father.

“My father. Pursuer of excellence.

The most empathetic and effective leader and statesman died in a chopper crash in West Pokot. Doing what he did best for the better part of the last 40 years – trying to keep Kenya safe,” part of the post shared on LinkedIn by a broken Omondi read.

She said that one day, she would narrate the beautiful stories of how his father taught “with his actions and not with his words”.

The young lady shared a throwback photo of his father in the company of the current president of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto.

He walked with King Charles III on the red carpet during his four-day State visit to Kenya in October 2023.
