He hit target thrice for hosts Akwa United to get past on-form Niger Tornadoes 4-1.
His goals and experience will go a long way in ensuring ‘The Promise Keepers’ navigate their way out of the dreaded drop zone.
Ubong Friday is the sixth player in the NPFL to record a hat-trick thus far.
The five other hat-trick heroes thus far are Nenrot Silas, Albert Hilary (Plateau United), Nyima Nwagua (Rivers United), Robert Mizo (Bayelsa United) and Yusuf Abdullahi (Kano Pillars).
He has now taken his tally for the season to six goals and closing in on a 50-goal career milestone.
Akwa United remain in 18th position in the standings with 36 points.
They are now just a point away from safety with a game in hand with eight rounds of matches to the end of the season.
