Yira Sor pushes closer to return for Genk

Genk coach has disclosed that former Flying Eagles winger Yira Sor has fully recovered from injury and now pushing to make his matchday squad.

“Sor is also training fully again, I just have to see if I’ll include him in the squad against Dender (later tonight) or Union (Saturday, March 15),” Genk coach Thorsten Fink said.

Yira Sor, 24, has scored a goal in 13 league appearances this season.

He has been sidelined by a muscle injury since early December.

Genk are nine points clear at the top of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League after 28 rounds of matches in the regular season.

Fink said he expects his team to maintain this form into the championship playoffs.

“The competition keeps everyone on their toes. It’s a fight for a place. Not only in the team, but also in the match selection. You can also see that in training, I see a lot of sharpness,” he remarked.

“That’s why I don’t fear a decline in that respect in the matches for the play-offs. That’s not how this group is structured,”
