Will Chuba Akpom join Osayi-Samuel in England?

There is a possibility that Chuba Akpom could join fellow Nigerian star Bright Osayi-Samuel at ambitious English Championship side Birmingham City

Osayi-Samuel is a summer signing by Birmingham City, who are now reportedly interested in acquiring the services of the 29-year-old Akpom, who has pledged his international future to Nigeria, on a season-long loan.

Ajax, while preferring a permanent transfer, are contemplating a loan arrangement that includes an option to purchase, as they are keen to reduce his substantial salary burden for at least a year.

Akpom, who made the move to Ajax from Middlesbrough for an alleged €12.3 million, holds a contract with the Dutch team until June 2028, with his current market value estimated at €7 million by Transfermarkt.

Reports suggest that Birmingham City have initiated discussions with Ajax regarding the potential loan deal.

The forward was on loan at OSC Lille last season, and with recent links to Turkish club Samsunspor, Ajax are increasingly inclined towards finding a more permanent resolution to his future at the club.
