Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa may now be featuring for Kano Pillars, but he will not be part of the CHAN Eagles who will face Ghana for a place at the 2025 CHAN.
The experienced forward was left out of a 30-man squad for final training camp in Ikenne even though he is one of the standout stars in the domestic championship.
He has scored five goals so far for Kano Pillars, who are placed 11th in the NPFL table.
Checks showed that Ahmed Musa signed a short-term loan contract with Kano Pillars, while the CHAN rules and regulations specified that a player will only be eligible for the tournament if he had a permanent contract.
Article 38.2 of the CHAN rules stated: “Only players with permanent contract registered in a local club affiliated to their national association are eligible to participate in the African Nations Championship.”
