Eligibility

So, your country is on the list – exciting! But before you jump into the application, double-check these eligibility criteria to ensure you qualify:

  • Age: Must be at least 18 by the start of your scholarship in New Zealand (semester one). Maximum age limit is 40.
  • Work Experience: One year of full-time (30+ hours/week) or two years of part-time (up to 29 hours/week) paid, unpaid, or volunteer experience is required.
  • English Language: While test scores aren’t needed initially, shortlisted applicants from certain countries will need to meet these requirements:
  • IELTS: 6.0 overall, no band below 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT: 80 overall, Writing score of 21
  • PTE Academic: 50 overall, no communication skill below 42
  • Cambridge English (advanced): 169 overall, no band below 162
  • If you’re from Cambodia, Indonesia, or other listed Pacific Island countries, the scholarship will cover the cost and arrange your English language test.
  • Before you can fully be eligible for this scholarship complete the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships online eligibility test and check the Eligibility Requirements.
