The Falconets were not clinical in front of goal and so early Thursday morning fell 3-1 to Germany in a FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup group game in Bogota, Colombia.
Germany went in front after 17 minutes after the Nigerian girls failed to take an early lead when they were denied by the German goalkeeper.
The Falconets could have drawn level in first half stoppage time but Rofiat Imuran’s effort at goal was tame.
Nigeria finally restored parity five minutes after the break through Chiamaka Okwuchukwu after a defensive mix-up by Germany.
Germany regained their lead in the 61st minute, before they netted a third goal in stoppage time to seal qualification to the Round of 16.
The Falconets will hope to also advance to the knockout rounds when they take on Venezuela in Cali Saturday.
