Verydarkman Blames Lagos for Nigeria’s Economic Issues, Compares Other States: “Milking the Country”

  • Social media activist Verydarkman has stirred up debate online by boldly blaming Lagos State for Nigeria’s economic challenges
  • In a recent video shared on social media, he claimed that the economic dominance and centralisation in Lagos are stalling national progress
  • Verydarkman suggested that too much federal attention and private investment are concentrated in Lagos and called on Igbo people

Nigerian social media activist Verydarkman, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, has alleged that Lagos is the reason Nigeria is not progressing.

In a recent video shared on his social media platforms, the outspoken activist argued that too many activities and investments are concentrated in Lagos, leaving other Nigerian states deprived of the same opportunities.

Citing the seaport sector as an example, he noted that there are other states suitable for sea-based imports, but they are not approved or developed by the government.

Verydarkman even suggested that Lagos should be a country of its own. According to him, major companies and the heart of Nigeria’s entertainment industry are centred in Lagos, creating an imbalance in national development.

He called on Igbo people and all “reasonable Nigerians” to advocate for a fair distribution of economic opportunities across the country. He also appealed to the federal government to establish at least three seaports and 13 additional international airports in other economically significant states.

VDM further argued that decentralising economic activities and promoting development in other regions would benefit the entire country.
