Swedish side Kalmar FF have said they will maintain their focus to bring over from Africa talented players after Nigerian youngster Vince Osuji fetched them their biggest transfer fee.
Peter Swardh, who is part of the Kalmar FF sports group said: “Our focus on Africa will continue, and we hope to see more players like Vince who lift and contribute to Kalmar FF.
“This is a record transfer that enables the continued development of the club.”
He revealed that right from his Kalmar debut in June 2024, the young central defender attracted interest.
“Vince started his first match in Kalmar FF at Friends Arena in June against AIK, where we won 2-1 after a strong effort by both the team and Vince,” he recalled.
“Already after that match, rumors began to spread about interested clubs from abroad.
“During the autumn, many clubs visited our matches to follow Vince, and at the end of 2024, the interest became concrete.”
He added: “He has received a solid education at the De Cardinal Football Academy in Nigeria and then took the next step with us.
“Now it is Club Brugge that will be part of his continued development.
“We are really happy that he gets this opportunity, while it strengthens Kalmar FF going forward.
“We wish Vince the best of luck in Brugge!”
