Swedish champions Malmo FF have said they are delighted that new signing Emmanuel Ekong will bring much-needed speed to their attack.
Ekong, 22, son of former Super Eagles star Prince Ikpe Ekong, has signed a five-year contract with Malmo from Serie A club Empoli.
Malmo assistant sports director Ola Toivonen was excited with their new signing.
“We felt that we needed something that would hit in Europe, that there was some quality that we were missing. His speed is something we have been missing in the squad. He has a sharpness and a drive that is very appealing,” he told Expressen
“He is at a great age and has great qualities. With Henke’s (head coach) and Theo’s (Theodor Olsson, assistant) training, together with our fitness team, we will make him even better.
“Hopefully he proves to Henke that he will play week in and week out. It’s super exciting.
“And a record sum, it’s up to him as well”.
He made 15 appearances for Empoli this season all as a sub.
