Super Eagles will beat Rwanda, South Africa to boost 2026 World Cup qualification – Ikpeba

Super Eagles will get their qualification hopes for the 2026 World Cup back on track with victories over Rwanda and South Africa, according to former international Victor Ikpeba.

Nigeria are fourth in their qualifying group with seven points from six matches.

South Africa lead the standings on 13 points, Rwanda are second on eight points, while Benin are third also on eight points with an inferior goals difference with four rounds of matches to the end of the qualifying series.

CAF African Player of the Year in 1997, Ikpeba said the players have let down the country with the results they posted in the earlier rounds of the qualifiers.

“The boys have let down the country, they ought to take responsibility (for the poor run),” Ikpeba said on Monday Night Football on SuperSport TV

“This is because the players make great managers and teams.

“But we can’t dwell on the past.

“There’s pride, determination and honour to play for your country, I believe the boys are now ready and determined to do the job against Rwanda and South Africa.

“We can do it, but we have to fight for it, we have to earn it.”

The Super Eagles will welcome Rwanda on September 6 in Uyo, before they fly out to South Africa three days later.
