Super Eagles stars back new coach Eric Chelle to qualify for 2026 World Cup

Top Super Eagles stars have come out in full support of new Super Eagles Eric Chelle in their bid to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

Eric Chelle, 47, was Monday formally presented as the man to guide Nigeria through a rather difficult World Cup qualifying as they are second bottom of the group and four points adrift of the front runners.

However, experienced central defender Kenneth Omeruo said he is confident it will not be Mission Impossible with a new coach now in place.

“The new coach has something to give to the Super Eagles,” the Kasimpasa star said.

“We saw a very organised Mali during our friendly match last year and at the AFCON.

“And now with the talent in Nigeria, we expect even more.”

He added: “Our confidence is back and when we’re at our best and focused, there’s no stopping the Super Eagles.”

Wilfred Ndidi, another experienced player of the Super Eagles, also expressed confidence Nigeria could still fly high to the World Cup.

“With our quality and the new coach, we will qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” the Leicester City star declared.

“It won’t be easy, but we’re all together in the task to qualify for the World Cup.”

The Super Eagles will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in March with an away trip to Rwanda before a home game against Zimbabwe.
