Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has said his team are blessed with some great players who deserve to play at next year’s World Cup.
“We have great players and they need to go to the World Cup,” he declared at the post-match media briefing after Nigeria beat Rwanda 2-0 courtesy of a first-half brace by Victor Osimhen.
The Super Eagles coach has therefore tasked the team to improve after they recorded their first win in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
“It was a difficult game because Rwanda have a great team and they made a great game, The players followed the game plan, the victory was expected,” he said.
“But we need to improve, this was the first game. We have another game in a few days, we need to win again.”
Nigeria have climbed to fourth in Group C with six points from five matches, four points adrift of new leaders South Africa.
They welcome bottom team Zimbabwe to Uyo Tuesday, while South Africa battle second-placed Benin in Abidjan same day.
