Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been granted compassionate leave following the death of his father, officials told SCORENigeria
Nwabali senior died Thursday.
In the absence of the South Africa-based goalkeeper, who has been the country’s No 1 since the 2023 AFCON earlier this year, Maduka Okoye of Udinese is expected to man the goal for the Super Eagles against Rwanda Monday in Uyo.
Nwabali is the second player allowed to leave camp after Ola Aina also jetted back to his base.
Okoye last featured for the Super Eagles at the delayed 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
He has established himself at his Italian club in the last two seasons.
