SCORENigeria can exclusively report that Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is closely monitoring the progress of at least two NPFL stars ahead of next month’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers – Enugu Rangers defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi and midfielder Papa Daniel from Niger Tornadoes.
Eric Chelle was impressed by the two CHAN Eagles stars when he watched them in action against NPFL club Sunshine Stars last month.
Both players also shone in victory over Ghana in the final CHAN playoffs.
“These two players are of a good level,” a source told SCORENigeria
“The coach has been impressed and now wants to work more closely with them.”
Onyebuchi is a bulky central defender who plays hard and also technical for a big man, while Papa Daniel is an exciting attacking midfielder.
The Super Eagles resume 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March with a trip to leaders Rwanda and then a home game against Zimbabwe.
